Youth Leadership Award

Youth Leadership Award is given to the most outstanding nominees who have gone above and beyond service and aided in the development of youth. Young people are actually leaders of today, not of the distant future. From technology to politics, from the arts to the sciences, from the streets to the information superhighway, youth were already making their mark, and their engagement was also crucial in addressing national/global challenges.

The current generation of young people is enormous: Between the ages of 10 and 24, 1.8 billion individuals exist. The majority of them live in developing countries, where they make up a significant fraction of the population. Not only will how well they traverse adolescence affect their own life, but also the course of the globe. Yet, far too many young people are unable to properly participate in society. In low-income nations, over 175 million young people are unable to read a complete sentence. Over 500 million people aged 15 to 24 live on less than $2 a day, and over 73 million are unemployed. The hurdles to involvement for girls are significantly larger. Youth, on the other hand, can be effective change agents provided they are empowered and given the correct opportunity.
