The Pakistan Embassy in the UAE has called on all eligible Pakistani nationals to make use of the UAE Visa Amnesty Scheme offered by the UAE government to regularize their status.
“The Embassy and Consulate General of Pakistan are fully dedicated to assisting members of the Pakistani community during this time,” stated the Pakistani missions in a release.
The UAE government has announced the UAE Visa Amnesty Scheme, which runs from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, 2024.
Following this announcement, the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai are providing comprehensive support to Pakistani nationals residing in the UAE to ensure they can fully benefit from the UAE government’s amnesty scheme. We urge all eligible Pakistani nationals to take advantage of this opportunity offered by the UAE government,” the Pakistani missions stated.
To facilitate this process, the Embassy and Consulate General have implemented the following measures:
- Extended Office Hours: The National Identity Card (NIC), Passport, and Attestation Sections will remain open on Saturdays until the end of October 2024 to accommodate individuals needing to renew, update, or validate their documents.
- Out-Pass Facilitation: The Out-Pass Sections are available to issue out-pass or emergency travel documents for Pakistani nationals without passports, making it easier for them to return to Pakistan.

If you’re planning to move to the UAE for work, you have two main visa options: the Standard Work Visa and the Green Visa. Both cater to skilled workers but vary in sponsorship requirements, duration, and the application process. Here’s a detailed comparison to help you decide which option is best for your situation:
1. Standard Work Visa
- Sponsorship: Requires an employer in the UAE to sponsor your visa.
- Duration: Typically valid for 2-3 years, depending on the employment contract.
- Eligibility: You must have a job offer from a UAE-based company.
- Renewal: Needs to be renewed through your employer before expiry.
- Benefits: Standard employment visa benefits, such as labor protections, healthcare, and residency.
2. Green Visa
- Sponsorship: Does not require employer sponsorship, offering more flexibility for freelancers, self-employed individuals, and skilled professionals.
- Duration: Valid for up to 5 years, longer than the standard work visa.
- Eligibility: Intended for highly skilled workers, investors, freelancers, and entrepreneurs.
- Renewal: Easier to renew as it is not tied to an employer.
- Benefits: Greater independence, longer duration, and ability to sponsor family members more easily.
By evaluating your employment situation and future goals, you can choose the visa that aligns best with your work and lifestyle preferences in the UAE.
