Lymph vessels, or lymphatic vessels, form part of the system of lymphatics not merely to preserve fluid in equilibrium but also immune support. In fact, the vessels form a network structure wherein fluid from other tissues in other parts of the body called lymph is transported so that it could eventually flow into the lymph nodes and into the bloodstream.

These intermediate spaces between cells collect the white blood cells, waste products, and pathogens. The walls of a lymph vessel are thin and also contain valves. So there is ensured one-way flow to the lymph nodes. These backflow preventers called valves allow free movement of lymph.

It carries it to the lymph nodes, where all the harmful materials are filtered out of it and neutralized by the action of immune cells, thus infections from entering the body and conserving health.
